All classes will take part in Big Stone Paint for Holocaust Memorial Day 2022

Whitehall Park School will be joining schools and community groups up and down the country in making a personal contribution to the new UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre this Holocaust Memorial Day.

Foundation Stones invites the children to paint a stone in remembrance of the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered in the Holocaust and all other victims of Nazi persecution. You can also choose to dedicate your stone to those murdered in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

Building on the Jewish custom of placing a pebble on headstones when visiting a grave, Foundations Stones from across the United Kingdom will become part of the new memorial, each one a commitment to remember and learn from the past.

ThisΒ January 27 2022, at 09:30 Whitehall Park classes like other schools across the country will be taking part in the #BigStonePaint for #HMD2022, a nationwide schools assembly. The children will be decorating a stone, which will be posted to the UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre.

We ask all parents and carers toΒ provide your child(ren) with a stone that can be painted or drawn on with paint pens and oil pastels. Please bring the stone into school by Friday 21st January.
