Physical Education & Sport Premium

The Primary PE & Sports Premium is a Government grant that must be used to fund improvements to the provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport, for the benefit of primary aged pupils in Years 1 to 6.

Primary schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools, and examples of activities this type of funding covers are:

  • Hire qualified sports coaches to work with teachers
  • Provide existing staff with training or resources to help them teach PE and sport more effectively
  • Introduce new sports or activities and encourage more pupils to take up sport
  • Support and involve the least active children by running or extending school sports clubs, holiday clubs
  • Run sport competitions
  • Run sports activities with other schools.

How we use Sports Premium funding

We recognise the significant contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum together with extra-curricular opportunities and competitions have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement all our children.

Our Primary School Sport’s funding has enabled us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports coaches during PE sessions, contributing to the range of after-school clubs on offer such as ballet, football and athletics, as well as training our staff to deliver high quality PE and games sessions.
