Welcome to Whitehall Park School. We do hope you enjoy finding out more about us through our website. In September 2014 we opened as a two form entry primary free school, located in the Whitehall Park area of North Islington, N19, on the border of Haringey and Islington. Each year, we welcome two more classes of Reception age children, so our school really is a growing community. A sense of family is at the heart of our school, and we provide many opportunities for children and their wider family to learn, enjoy and have fun together. Please do take a look at some of our many events, special days and exciting opportunities that our school enjoys.
Whitehall Park is part of the growing family of Bellevue Place Education Trust, which is an education trust formed by the collaboration of Place Group and Bellevue Education, which seeks to blend the best of state and independent education by providing local schools for the local community. Our growing trust will have seven schools in and around the London area from September 2015 and we truly believe that by working together we can achieve much more for all of our children. All of our schools seek to provide a welcoming, safe and stimulating learning environment, seeking to optimise educational opportunities and outcomes for children of all abilities and backgrounds aged 4-11. At Whitehall Park, we have very high expectations of ourselves and for our children and we strive to ensure that everyone works collaboratively to ensure we all are passionate about being lifelong learners
Our flourishing Whitehall Park School community is based on the values of courtesy, respect and tolerance. Throughout everything that we strive to achieve, we hold the children at the centre of our vision, ethos and aims, providing them with opportunities to grow, develop and progress as a well-rounded individual. At our school, every child matters and our pupils, both individually and collectively, develop a real sense of pride in their school and their community. Whitehall Park School is rooted in an understanding that each pupil has different talents and distinct qualities and we aim to grow and develop these special qualities, as well as provide each child with an excellent start in their lives, emotionally, academically, socially and spiritually. Our primary focus is to nurture these talents, instil a love of learning and educate in the broadest possible sense. We understand the importance of ensuring children feel valued and happy, and have a strong and well developed approach to supporting emotional development and well-being and so we ensure that our children experience excellent opportunities to develop not only their academic talents, but also their emotional, social and personal aspects of learning. .
We are all extremely proud of Whitehall Park School and of the achievements of our wonderful children. We have a highly dedicated team of staff who are committed to providing an amazing education for all our children. As a result, our children make excellent progress and, by the time they leave us in Year 6, we will be ensuring that they move onto secondary education with excellent standards in all areas of the curriculum. We believe that the way in which we teach our curriculum should be exciting, driven by our children, fun and interesting. Our rich and varied topics enable children to develop their interests through meaningful contexts which provide opportunities for children to really be immersed within a topic.
Learning is enhanced by the ways in which we teach the specific skills and knowledge in reading, writing and maths through this topic based approach which means children can really explore their learning in depth and apply their skills and demonstrate their understanding across the curriculum. We encourage all aspects of our broad curriculum to be incorporated within our overarching themes, which helps children to further develop their creative, artistic, musical, sporting and knowledge and understanding of the world through this immersive approach to learning. To find out more about our approaches to teaching through this cross-curricular approach and about our specific teaching of phonics using Read Write Inc., our Talk for Writing strategies and the Singapore Maths approaches we use, as well as how we teach all of the other subjects, please explore the curriculum pages on our website.
We believe that a rich and varied approach to learning makes learning more meaningful and memorable, as well as providing children with the depth and breadth of knowledge, skills and experiences to make sense of the world around them. We provide experiential learning opportunities every term involving visitors coming in to school, special events and theme days as well as lots of trips out of school. We are well supported by specialist teachers in the sports, music and languages, as well as providing a wide range of Extended School provision that offers opportunities such as yoga, ballet, football, Street Dance, Spanish, French and much more.
