Year 1 become ‘Plant Detectives’ on Hampstead Heath

Year 1 went on a school to trip to take part in ‘Plant Detectives’ in Hampstead Heath for their science curriculum.

They walked to the bus stop, got the bus and then walked through the heath to the education centre on Parliament Hill.

There, with expert leaders the children discovered common plants during a hands-on scavenger hunt. Then they learnt the different parts of a plant through games and role play. Finally, before a spot of lunch the children were asked to create their own plant based artwork to bring back to school.

It was a great morning, the sun shone and the children really enjoyed being outside exploring and learning about the local nature!
