National Story Telling Week and Mental Health Week

Last week, we celebrated National Storytelling Week. Storytelling is important as it develops children imagination, supports cultural understanding and appreciation, develops a love of reading and supports children’s reading, writing and speaking skills. Ms Foster organized lots of activities, including a morning journaling session and the children had a wonderful week, exploring stories.

This week, we have celebratedΒ  Children’s Mental Health Week. Ms Taylor led an assembly on Monday, with the themeΒ  of growing together. During the week, children have taken part in activities where they have had space to creatively express themselvesΒ  and connect with nature; to enhance their wellbeing and improve their mental health. ThisΒ  week has provided a supportive space to think about and explore their feelings. Activities have invited them to explore their roots, environment and how they can grow together with others as a metaphor for personal growth. On Friday, children have dressed to express, donating Β£1 to the Place to Be.
