Susan Bridges has recently joined the Whitehall Park team as a teaching assistant for children across the year 1 classes. Susan has over 18 years experience as a dedicated and proactive practitioner working alongside children, parents and staff from a range of backgrounds, cultures and religions. Susan’s experience ranges from Nursery age all the way up to supporting children in year 6 who are working towards their SATs tests.
Susan specialises in dedicating her time and effort to support, challenge and progress children in their phonetical awareness and writing skills, in their number understanding and application and more creative aspects of the curriculum; such as talk for writing and the arts. Susan has provided numerous interventions to guide children who find it more difficult to access the curriculum. She supports children with a wide range of behavioural and special educational needs and works closley alongside her classroom teachers and the parents of children to maximise their potential.
‘I feel excited to be a member of the team here at Whitehall Park. My expertise and knowledge will support children and members of staff in our school’s continuing journey to Outstanding. I believe that children should guide their own learning through their interests and specific needs and I facilitate this through continually evaluating and adapting the lessons taking place. My expectations of the outcomes of the children in my care are high and I believe that children should become independent learners in order to flourish.’
